Chris Girvan

Chris grew up in Red Deer, Alberta. He got into a lot of trouble as a young person and was on a path of destruction. But at age 18, he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and started to follow God and His ways. Ever since that time, Chris has wanted to tell people about Jesus! He especially has had a burden in his heart to reach those in Red Deer with the gospel - the good news about what Jesus Christ did on the cross.

Chris finished seminary training in December 2019. His desire was to serve in a church that preached expositional sermons, trusting the Bible as God’s Word and had Elder leadership. He looked and saw that there were not many churches like this, and prayerfully decided to plant a church in Red Deer if God would will it.

Psalm 127:1 says “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”

So Chris started sharing the vision and gathering a group of people who desired to see a new work started in Red Deer. On Easter Sunday in 2021, Redemption Church Red Deer officially launched. Chris has been encouraged to see God build this new church in Red Deer and desires to be used by Him; to be another church working at reaching the lost, making disciples and by God’s grace, multiplying.

Chris and his wife Rebecca have three great children: Gabrielle, Judah, and Ezra. Their prayer and desire is for their children to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
