Our Story
An Increasing Burden
As Pastor Chris finished seminary training in December 2019, he desired to serve in a church that preached expositional sermons, trusted the Bible as God’s Word, and had Elder leadership. As he looked, he found there were few churches that met this criteria.
After much prayer, he felt led to help plant a church in Red Deer, trusting what Psalm 127:1 says “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
With the support of Redemption Calgary North, Hope Kelowna, Redemption Durham, Redemption London, and Redemption Olds, and supported and trained by the church planting network, The Great Commission Collective, the building of a new work in Red Deer started.
Church Under Construction
Pastor Chris began connecting with people and sharing the vision for Redemption. By the Fall of 2020, a group of like-minded individuals had been formed. This group continued meeting during the winter of 2021, discussing the culture of Redemption which is marked by 6 Distinctives:
Fervent Prayer
Bold Preaching
Passionate Worship
Purposeful Discipleship
Courageous Evangelism
Strategic Church Planting
On Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, Redemption Red Deer officially launched.
Into The Future
Redemption Church met on Saturday evenings in The Dome. By God’s providence, for the first gathering 75 chairs were set up and 75 people came… Amazing!
Currently Redemption Church is meeting at the Seventh-day Adventist building and continues to grow. The church has started new ministries and is partnering with others who desire to plant like-minded churches.
It has been exciting to see God build this church in Red Deer. And it is the desire of those at Redemption that we would be used by Him; to be another church working at reaching the lost, making disciples and by God’s grace - multiplying.
